The 4-Shore’s rim was the first 9th Wave built for beach racing, back in 2017, and it’s the platform the SandStone line later grew out of. That heritage shows in how it’s put together: wide enough for real tire support and grip, whichever surface you’re on.
The rim is 42mm deep and 33mm internal, hookless and rated for tires from 40mm up to 62mm: enough volume for float in soft sand, and just as much support for grip on loose gravel. DT Swiss 350 Boost hubs (15×110 front / 12×148 rear) and brass nipples are a deliberate combination: brass resists corrosion where salt and sand are part of the riding, and works just as reliably where they’re not. 28 Alpina Ultralite aero spokes front and rear keep the set at 1524g.
The ART asymmetric rim design keeps spoke tension even front and rear, so the wheel holds its shape through repeated hard efforts.
Hand built in the Netherlands, and once you register your wheels, the carbon rims are covered for life. Curious what beach racing specifically asks of a wheel? Read more in our journal article. Belgian cycling magazine Grinta! featured the 4-Shore in a deep dive into beach racing with pro rider Timothy Dupont — read that feature here.
