We use different kind of spokes to match the purpose of our wheels. For road and gravel wheels you may find mostly DT Swiss Aerolite spokes and in later models the super strong and aerodynamic Pillar Wing shaped spokes. Mountain bike wheels are made with DT Swiss Revolution and in some cases with DT Swiss Competition.
To determine which spokes are used in your wheel, look at the spoke head. DT Swiss spokes are stamped with a “DT” and Pillar Wing Spokes with “P”.

Spoke tension of the opposite side will vary based on the hub in your wheel and the tension that must be used to center the wheel. Make sure to have a calibrated tension meter and a dishing tool. Wheel building is craftsmanship, it should be done by an experienced mechanic!
If you are building a wheel and need to calculate the spoke length you will need the ERD. This can be found at the product page of the wheels/rim on this website, and on all rims near the valve hole area.
