Some rides are about getting from A to B without thinking about your wheels at all: a long gravel day, a beach start with the tide coming in, a bike left in the shed after a wet ride. The SandStone 32 is the 32-inch wheel for exactly that kind of riding, built on the same 37mm wide, 52mm deep rim platform as the rest of the SandStone line.
A 32-inch wheel meets an obstacle at a shallower angle than a smaller wheel does, so roots, stones and soft patches take less speed out of you. The 37mm internal width gives tires from 50mm up proper support: a rounder tire profile, more grip and less squirm at lower pressures. Not sure which pressure fits your tire? Check the tire pressure and width guide.
The hubs are DT Swiss 350 and the nipples are brass, the same combination we use on our beach wheels because it keeps working when sand and salt get in. That is the point of this wheel: carefree use on gravel, on the beach and anywhere in between, with a build you can leave to do its job. Alpina Ultralite aero spokes (28 front, 28 rear) and the ART asymmetric rim keep spoke tension even, so the wheel holds its shape under load.
Hand built in the Netherlands and covered by our Lifetime Warranty and Crash Replacement Program once you register your wheels. Read more about why bigger wheels make sense on gravel in our gravel journal article, or about floating over soft sand in our beach racing journal article. You can also look at the original SandStone in 700c.
