A root or a rock at speed usually means one thing: check your line, or take the hit. On a 32-inch wheel, that same obstacle sits at a shallower angle, and the wheel rolls over it instead of catching on it. That’s the starting point for the Yarrow SL32: built for XC and marathon riders on set routes and mountain terrain, around the largest wheel size we make.
The rim is the same platform as the rest of the Yarrow SL32 line: 25mm deep and 32mm internal, wider than the 30mm many other brands still build around. That extra width isn’t free — the rim carries a little more weight for it — but it supports a modern, wide MTB tire properly at the lower pressures that give you grip on loose, technical climbs. 30mm isn’t a bad width, it’s just a step behind where tires have moved.
DT Swiss 240 EXP Straight Pull hubs are known for their reliability and can be serviced at almost any bike shop, with a 6-bolt/IS rotor interface. Beyond standard Boost spacing (15×110 front / 12×148 rear), Lefty and Superboost (12×157) options are available for specific frames, unlike the Ninefold. The standard DT Swiss 240 hub, with its Ratchet EXP engagement, is also approved for light e-MTBs up to 250W and 32km/h. 28 Alpina spokes front and rear complete a wheelset that weighs 1445g.
This wheelset isn’t only for mountain bikes. If your 32-inch gravel bike takes Boost or Superboost hub spacing, the Yarrow SL32 gives you a lower rim profile and a lighter build than the SandStone SL32, our dedicated 32-inch gravel platform: 415g rim and 1445g for the set here, against 470g and 1578g for the deeper, wider SandStone SL32. Choose based on what your riding calls for: a shallower, lighter wheel here, or the aero-focused depth of the SandStone SL32 for fast, open gravel.
The ART asymmetric rim design keeps spoke tension even side to side, for a wheel that holds its line under the extra leverage a bigger wheel puts through it.
