Somewhere past the halfway point of a long climb, the gradient kicks up again and every gram you’re carrying makes itself known. The Avalon SL3 is built for that moment: an entry point to our lightest road platform, built for the rider chasing the last few grams to climb faster.
It uses the same rim as the Avalon SL3 Ninefold, built with 24 Alpina Ultralite aero spokes and DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs, still exceptionally light at 1248g. DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs are known for their reliability and can be serviced at almost any bike shop.
The rim is 35mm deep at the front and 40mm at the rear, at 23.5mm internal width, hooked and tubeless ready, rated for 27 to 33mm tires. For the best aero shape, low rolling resistance and high grip, we recommend 28 to 30mm tires. The ART asymmetric rim design evens out the spoke tension between the drive and non-drive side of the rear wheel, so the wheel holds its shape under load despite the low weight.
This is the light, agile choice for riders who climb hard and want responsive handling. It is hand built in the Netherlands with rim tape and valves installed, and once you register your wheels, the carbon rims are covered for life.
