The rim is 45mm deep with a 21mm internal width, hooked and tubeless ready. Many road bikes, race frames in particular, run tires in that 25 to 30mm range, and a rim sized to that range gives those tires proper support and a clean line from tire to rim. The build is about years of riding, not one season. DT Swiss 370 hubs are known for their reliability and straightforward maintenance. Alpina Extralite aero spokes, bladed and J-bend, cut through the air more cleanly than a round spoke while staying easy to true, and brass nipples hold their tension for years. The ART Asymmetric Rim Design balances spoke tension more evenly, so the wheel holds its shape under everyday riding load instead of slowly going out of true.
At 1544g the Avalon ONE is not the lightest road wheelset in our range, and it is not meant to be. It brings an asymmetric rim, aero spokes and DT Swiss hubs, everything that makes a 9th Wave wheel, to the entry point of our road range.
