At Bike Motion Benelux 2020 9th Wave introduces a unique 42 mm high wheel set for gravel bikes: The Anath 650 gravel wheels with -internal- 27 mm wide rims for tires up to 2.4 inches!

It will have escaped few notice. The fastest growing trend within cycling is gravel biking. No wonder: with a gravel bike you discover new environments and cycling becomes an adventure. A gravel bike allows you to (finally) go on that epic bike-packing trip or participate in one of the gravel rides that are organized all over the world. More and more challenging routes are being chosen and that means other demands on the equipment.

650b Gravel+

A trend that has come over from the U.S. and is now increasingly visible in the Netherlands via Germany is: 650b plus tires for gravel bikes. Gravel bikes that can be ridden with both standard 28-inch wheels and 650b wheels are booming. Think of the Open Cycle WI.DE., 3T Exploro and the Áspero from Cervélo. More brands are now following this trend.

However, there was 1 problem…. No good gravel wheels for 650b with wide tires were available until now. Available wheel sets are mainly 27.5 mountain bike wheels, or the much too narrow 650b road bike wheels – actually totally unsuitable for wide tires

With the introduction of the Anath 650b gravel wheels, there is now a wheel set specifically designed for 650b gravel tires up to 2.4 wide!

9th Wave

9th Wave’s roots are in mountain biking. No wonder we got excited about gravel biking right away. For us it is a fusion of the beautiful aspects of mountain biking and cycling.

When developing the Anath wheels, we stayed with our vision of wheel building. We used the knowledge gained from the successful 4-shore wheels in the development of these wheels. That is, (of course) an asymmetrical rim with 42 mm height and a generous inner width to optimally utilize the volume of modern tires. The Anath 700c is 24 mm inside and the 650b even 27 mm!

The wheel circumference of the Anath 650 with a 2.2 inch/60 mm tire is almost the same as a standard 28 inch wheel with 35 to 40 mm tires. Comfort and grip are second to none, long tours or rides over rough terrain become a totally different experience with these wheels!
