Caloi – Avancini Racing Team will be riding 9th Wave wheels from 2023 season!

The pro XCO season is getting underway and last weekend the UCI XCO race in Banyoles, Spain, was on the calendar.
Avancini revealed in late 2022 that he would be leaving Cannondale in search of new challenges, having spent most of his career with the team. As a result, he founded a youthful team led by himself and composed exclusively of Brazilians.
In addition to Henrique Avancini, the team includes Ulan Galinski, Sabrina Oliveira and Cain Oliveira. “Caloi – Henrique Avancini Racing” is the result of a project with young riders that Avancini started in his country a few years ago, and with the arrival of the former world champion has become the strongest formation in the country.
9th Wave Cycling
9th Wave Cycling provides Henrique Avancini’s new team with 3 different models of wheel sets. 2 For mountain biking and 1 for road training.
The high-end wheel brand was founded in 2014 in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. 9th Wave exclusively makes high-end carbon wheels for Mountain bikes and Race and Gravel bikes. The wheel builder has specialized in high-end wheels that are distinguished by low weight, stiffness and ride comfort without compromising solidity.
The wheels are built entirely by hand, and in doing so, customers can choose from a large number of models so that there is something suitable for every enthusiastic, ambitious or motivated cyclist.
Collaboration
How did Avancini end up with 9th Wave wheels? 9th Wave has always focused primarily on building the best wheels and less on promotion and sponsorship, although 9th Wave wheels have been actively used in worldwide competitive sports for years. This has not gone unnoticed. Moreover, 9th Wave is one of the few European brands within the bike industry that are active in Brazil.
At Caloi, Avancini was given the freedom to put together his own team bike. This gave Avancini the opportunity to go test the Ninefold Flex 30 wheels on his favorite trails around Petrópolis. After a few test rides, he knew for sure: Dutch 9th Wave Cycling had to supply the wheels for the team bikes.
Material
The MTB wheel sets for the Brazilian MTB star’s team are unique and specially color-matched for the team. Both wheel sets have different features, allowing the team’s riders to match material choices to the course.
The Flex 30 wheels with special lightweight, Dyneema spokes from Berd is light and offers a high degree of shock absorption due to the special flexible construction of the carbon rim in combination with the Berd spokes.
Caloi Avancini Racing also has the scoop to ride the latest wheelset from 9th Wave: The Yarrow SL, a wheelset weighing only 1005 grams! The start of the MTB season in Banyoles was chosen to introduce this set of wheelset. And with success, because Avancini used the set in the sprint race on Friday and rode it straight to the podium!
For road training, the lightweight Ninefold Avalon 25 wheels are used.
